About Us
The practice opened in Mid July 2019 by Lloyd and his business partner Fran. We are a friendly bunch with an ethos on finding the right solution for your eyecare needs. Socially, we support local charities including Friends of Chernobyl’s Children- we do all the eyetests on the kids and interpreters who visit Moray each year and provide any glasses that the group might need. We are conscious of environmental responsibilities and we annually offset our Carbon emissions so that we are a Carbon neutral practice. We also host a free of charge recycling scheme for both Contact Lenses and their packaging and solutions, and also for glasses.
Lloyd Griffiths
Lloyd is from a market town in Northern Ireland called Dungannon (similar in size to Elgin). He recently reached an important milestone- he has spent longer living in Scotland than he did in Northern Ireland. Lloyd qualified as an Optometrist in 2004 after completing his degree in Glasgow Caledonian University. Since then, he has furthered his experience in a variety of roles including spells working in Hospital clinics, various branches of Dollond and Aitchison, locuming in Independent practices, and as Lead Optometrist for Moray (inspecting practices and advising on improvements to local care provision).
Lloyd has a special interest in Glaucoma and has worked as part of the Glaucoma team in ARI for several years and has completed 2 post graduate courses in Glaucoma. Lloyd was the first Optometrist in Moray to achieve the rare Diploma in Therapeutics- meaning he can prescribe medications for eyes normally reserved for Doctors in a hospital setting- especially useful for his other specialist interest of Emergency Eyecare. Lloyd was the first Optometrist to have a 3D scanner in Moray in his previous practice of Boots Opticians. Lloyd is married to Kala with 2 children (Isla and Kurt) and a wide variety of animals. Lloyd and Fran set up the practice in 2019. Away from eye care, Lloyd is passionate about Badminton and is constantly trying to improve his skills on court to compensate for his lack of, and ever decreasing amount of speed on court. Lloyd is a fully qualified UKCC badminton coach now that he has resigned himself to the fact that he is over the hill as a player.
FRANCES STEPHEN
Fran is a Partner and Practice Manager here at Lloyd Griffiths Eyecare. She is originally from Renfrew but moved to Aberdeen to study quite a long time ago. In 1991 she was offered the opportunity to move to Forres, and not being one to turn down an amazing adventure…off she went! She began her career in Optics with Dollond and Aitchison at their Inverness branch where she thrived on gaining a great knowledge of spectacle dispensing and customer care. Following a break to have her two children and embark on more studies, she returned to Optics and a new business partnership with her friend and former employer Lloyd Griffiths.
Fran is passionate about providing the best possible customer experience and although her role is to ensure the smooth running of the practice she is always available and happy to give her opinion when choosing new frames or sunglasses.
Away from work, Fran can be found skimming Pinterest for her next DIY project, walking with her husband Ian and their super cute dog Luna and when time allows, visiting her two sons who are both studying in Glasgow.
MARK BRUMBY
Mark has been an optical assistant for over 11 years and is currently studying to become a dispensing optician.
It has been an eye opening experience for him, learning about the different aspects of optics and eye health and he’s very much enjoyed the experience so far.
Mark particularly enjoys the technical side of optics, such as frame repair and assembly and is eager to use his knowledge to help customers with their frame choices and advise them of the most suitable lenses. He particularly enjoys assembling Rimless glasses.
In his spare time Mark is passionate about running, averaging about 50km a week in his training and favours the half marathon.
He also enjoys drawing, traditional and digital and spending time with his three kids, Finlay, Leia and Noah.
lIAM dey
Liam hasn’t worked at Boots nor Duncan and Todd, but has experience in most other practices locally! After a short 6 month break away from working in an Opticians trying out other industries, Liam joined the team here at LG eyecare at the start of 2022 after Becky moved on to work with her family business. He has been a qualified registered Dispensing Optician for 7 years and particularly likes finding good fitting frames for people with unusual facial characteristics.
Outside of the eye world, and pre covid, he enjoyed going to football matches and live music concerts. He is a married with 2 young daughters so he is glad to come to work to get some male company.
